The Look

My eldest daughter conquered her first "hill" climb today. She alternated standing/seated to pick up the momentum when necessary. She even turned around to give Jan Ulrich "the look." Havertown today, Ventoux tomorrow!

Beautiful Day

Saturday was just wonderful. I've got the pictures to prove it.

Oh, and the kids deserve a hearty congratulations for making it 10 weeks without a TV. We missed the Olympics and the World Series, but I couldn't bear the thought of being without a TV on election night. Of course, the last time I bought a TV for a specific event, things didn't turn out as I had hoped. If McCain wins, I'm taking the TV back to Costco and moving to Canada.

Crystal Ball

Went to the boy's soccer game today. He likes soccer, but doesn't LOVE it. He'll get a decent kick in from time to time, but is rarely aggressive enough to keep control of the ball for long. I was thinking about this as I watched him today and was wondering if he would want to play again next year. Just then, the quarter ended and he came over for a drink of water. Before I could ask him about the game, he said, "Dad, did you know that seven plus five equals twelve?" I said that I did know that and I asked why he brought it up. "I was just thinking that it's kind of like six plus six, but you take one away from one number and add it to the other number," he said.

So I guess that explains some of why he isn't very aggressive on the field. He's busy doing math.
